BORODYANKA
WAR IN UKRAINE
WITH ❤️ FOR UA
On February 24, 2022, Russia initiated a full-scale military operation in Ukraine, deploying forces from Belarus in the north, Russia in the east, and Crimea in the south. In the beginning of March, Russian aircrafts unleashed 500-kilogram bombs on the town Borodyanka, destroying approximately 10 high-rise buildings. "Borodyanka is the inaugural town in our nation where civilians have been targeted by Russian bombings" remarked Rudnichenko, major of Borodyanka.

Borodianka, located about an hour's drive west of the capital, became, like Bucha and Irpin, a symbol of the horrors that Vladimir Putin's invasion had brought upon the country.
Ukraine's Prosecutor General, Iryna Venediktova, stated that authorities had discovered "650 bodies" in the Kyiv region, which includes Bucha and Borodyanka, according to Reuters. Among the deceased were "40 children."

"We don't sleep. We have to take medication. Leaving the house, we're reminded it's all a nightmare, hoping one day to wake up from this unreal existence."

In August 2022, we launched "PROJECT FORWARD©," a donation initiative born out of our first trip to the war zone in Ukraine, in collaboration with the private aid organization Fundacia Via Vitae from Poland. While donations have almost completely dried up, the people of Ukraine continue to suffer and die as they did on the first day. We are committed to continuing our efforts, but we need your support. Learn more about "PROJECT FORWARD©" by clicking the banner.

Mural by Banksy in Borodyanka on the destroyed kindergarten "Buratino". The artwork portrays a judo match between a young child and an adult. With the child standing firm, they expertly flip the larger opponent over their head — reminiscent of the biblical tale of David and Goliath. In this symbolic scene, the powerful Russian President Vladimir Putin, known for his black belt in judo, is metaphorically bested by the resilient spirit of Ukraine.
